Patnitop is a hill top tourist location in Udhampur district on the National Highway from Jammu to Srinagar. It is located in the Himalayas, and is in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The river Chenab flows in close proximity to this location.

This famous hill resort is perched on a beautiful plateau, at an altitude of 2024 metres across which the Jammu-Srinagar Highway passes. The towns of Kud and Batote are nearby. Kud is a very small town where a sweet shop makes fresh Patissa ( an Indian sweet). It can be bought hot from the shop and melts in one's mouth. Batote is known as a place for quality rajma or the kidney bean.

The 6-hole golf course is being expanded to 9-holes. Pony rides along little known trails, camping and walks can be indulged in by those with a less adventurous spirit. The daring can opt for Para gliding and basic skiing, introduces in recent years. Sudh Mahadev is another sacred spot situated close to Patnitop.
Patnitop is an ideal region that serves as a base for tourist who trek to the nearby mountains. Special skiing courses are conducted at Patnitop for travelers.
